“Somewhere Else”. TOMORA takes listeners on an electronic journey ahead of the album “Come Closer”

A new project has appeared on the electronic music map, immediately attracting the attention of fans of alternative pop and club-influenced sounds. TOMORA – a joint initiative by Norwegian vocalist Aurora Aksnes and British producer Tom Rowlands of The Chemical Brothers – has released a new single, “Somewhere Else”. The track is another preview of the album “Come Closer”, scheduled for release on April 17, 2026.

The new recording expands the sonic direction the artists have already begun developing within the TOMORA project. The single opens with Aurora’s distinctive vocal, paired with pulsating electronics and rhythmic elements rooted in the tradition of the British club scene. The composition combines an ethereal atmosphere with a clear dance pulse, highlighting how naturally the musical worlds of both artists intersect.

Aurora explains that “Somewhere Else” was one of the first songs written for the project.

“’SOMEWHERE ELSE’ is one of the first songs we ever wrote, as TOMORA. And it opened up a big door for us, into our world.”

– Aurora

Tom Rowlands is equally enthusiastic about the track. The producer admits that the melody Aurora proposed stayed with him from the very beginning of the creative process.

“Ever since AURORA sang that melody to me it’s been running around my head brightening my day. We played an early version of the song at Glastonbury Festival and it felt like magic. Now we get to share it, it’s a total joy.”

– Tom Rowlands.

From studio collaboration to a new band

The story of TOMORA began with earlier studio collaborations between the artists. In 2019 Aurora appeared on The Chemical Brothers’ album “No Geography”, which later won the Grammy Award for Best Electronic/Dance Album. A few years later Tom Rowlands contributed to material on her 2024 album “What Happened to the Heart?”.

TOMORA – SOMEWHERE ELSE

The creation of a new project became a natural continuation of this relationship. The name TOMORA combines the artists’ names and symbolizes a shared creative space where electronic music meets expressive, emotional vocals.

The first signal of the project’s arrival was the single “Ring the Alarm”, released in late 2025 and quickly drawing the attention of music media.

The album “Come Closer”

“Somewhere Else” serves as a preview of TOMORA’s debut album titled “Come Closer”. The record was created during recording sessions held in the United Kingdom and Norway, with Tom Rowlands and Aurora sharing production duties.

The material explores themes of connection and creative freedom. As the artists explain, the work on the album began without a specific release plan and gradually evolved into a full-scale project.

TOMORA’s concert plans

Even before the album’s release, the project is set to appear on stages at major festivals. Planned performances include shows in Manchester and London, as well as appearances at international events such as Coachella. Among the announced dates is also a concert in Poland – on July 4 at the Open’er Festival.

The new single “Somewhere Else” shows that TOMORA is not a one-off collaboration between two artists from different musical worlds. It is a project aiming to develop its own aesthetic at the intersection of alternative pop and contemporary electronic music.
