Audioriver organizers have confirmed that The Prodigy will be the first headliner of the 2026 edition. The festival is scheduled for July 10-12, 2026, and the venue will be Łódzkie Błonia in Łódź. This year’s announcement also carries symbolic weight. In 2026, Audioriver celebrates its 20th anniversary, which the organizers highlight in an official statement, announcing a special anniversary edition and further announcements to come later.
The Prodigy formed in 1990 in Braintree, England, with producer and songwriter Liam Howlett responsible for the sound from the very beginning. The group emerged from rave culture, but quickly began blending electronic music with punk and rock energy, reaching an audience far beyond the club scene.
For many listeners, the gateway into that world was “Firestarter” and “Breathe”. The first was released on March 18, 1996, the second on November 11, 1996 – both as singles from the album “The Fat of the Land” (1997). It was then that The Prodigy most loudly fused club momentum with rock aggression, and for many people this era became the starting point for a deeper dive into their catalogue.
When describing the discography, it reads most clearly as a timeline of key studio albums that marked the band’s major turns. First came “Experience” (1992), still deeply rooted in the rave energy of the early ’90s. Then “Music for the Jilted Generation” (1994), a breakthrough record often described as the moment the band’s sound became noticeably heavier and more defiant. The culmination of that trajectory was “The Fat of the Land” (1997) with “Firestarter” and “Breathe”, followed by the final punch of “Smack My Bitch Up”.
After a longer break came “Always Outnumbered, Never Outgunned” (2004), and then a return to the band’s core formula in the following years: “Invaders Must Die” (2009), “The Day Is My Enemy” (2015), and the most recent “No Tourists” (2018). These titles form the essential “backbone” of the discography, to which fans usually add a list of classic singles from different eras – from earlier tracks like “Out of Space” and “No Good (Start the Dance)” to later songs introducing subsequent albums.
There is also a moment in this story that can’t be left out. In March 2019, Keith Flint, one of The Prodigy’s most recognizable faces, passed away. His death closed a certain chapter for the band and for fans who had long associated the live energy of the group with his onstage charisma.
In time, the group decided to continue, shaping this next chapter with clear respect for his legacy. At shows, Flintremains present as a point of reference and a lasting memory of someone who helped build their legend – not as an easy narrative device.
Audioriver – from Płock to Łódź, with an anniversary in the background
Audioriver launched in 2006 in Płock and over the years grew into one of the most important electronic music brands in Poland. The move to Łódź was officially announced in late 2023, and the festival began a new chapter at Park na Zdrowiu. Now that chapter comes full circle – the 2026 edition is an anniversary one, marking 20 years of the festival’s history.
