Violet Grohl’s debut album “Be Sweet To Me” will be released on May 29. The record is set to feature 11 tracks, with three songs currently leading the campaign: “THUM,” “Applefish,” and the latest single, “595.” The project is being released via Auroura Records / Republic Records.
The new single “595” arrived alongside a music video directed by Nikki Milan Houston. The song itself grew out of a very specific, almost cinematic spark – an old T-shirt advertising a phone sex line. That detail fits the way Violet Grohl builds tension around her music: combining attitude with a clearly crafted visual identity, without falling back on simple nostalgia.
The material was recorded between late 2024 and early 2025 in Los Angeles, in producer Justin Raisen’s home studio. You can hear a fascination with the alternative music of the late 1980s and early 1990s – from Pixies and Soundgarden to Cocteau Twins, The Breeders, PJ Harvey and Alice in Chains. “There’s something so powerful about the music from that era, from the messaging to the visuals. It’s authentic and raw. […] I’ve been listening to it since I was a kid,” Violet Grohl said in the 2026 announcement.
What is most interesting about this announcement, however, is that Violet Grohl’s debut does not feel like a project built solely on a recognizable surname. Earlier this year, Kristina Grossmann of Republic Records said: “From the moment we met Violet, it was clear that she represents the next generation of artists.” “Be Sweet To Me” therefore feels less like a family footnote in rock history and more like an attempt to step onto the scene with a language of her own – deeply rooted in guitar tradition, yet clearly searching for its own distinct identity.
Who is Violet Grohl?
Violet Grohl, so far known primarily as Dave Grohl’s daughter, had already been making her presence felt in music on her own terms. In 2023, she contributed vocals to the Foo Fighters song “Show Me How,” and in January 2025 she also appeared during Nirvana’s reunion performance at the FireAid concert, where she sang “All Apologies.” In early 2026, she signed with Republic Records through her own imprint, Auroura Records, and since then she has been steadily developing her solo career – one that, as Dave Grohl himself emphasized, she is building independently.
